AMAZON BESTSELLING AUTHOR
HI! I'm author J.C. McKenzie, and I'm a self-acknowledged bibliophile (book lover). From the moment my mom handed me a Nancy Drew paperback, I haven't successfully kept my nose out of a book. All genres appeal to me, but after reading Roger Zelazny's Chronicles of Amber, the idea of the extraordinary living among the ordinary sparked my imagination, and I've been spinning Urban Fantasy and Paranormal stories in my head ever since.

Editing: The Call of Corvids (Set in the Raven Crawford World)
Originally, I planned to write a spin off series with Mike, and that's not off the table. It's been bumped down on the list because Bear got all grisly and pissed off that I wasn't going to tell the story of how he met Chloe. So...Here we are. This will be a companion short story as a part of a boxed set releasing on Feb 20, 2020. All proceeds for the box set will go toward helping fellow author Mirren Hogan rebuild her home which burned down in the Australia bush fires. More information to come!
Editing: Queen of Corvids: A Raven Crawford Novel, Book Three
Status: The first draft is done, as is the first read through. I will be making heavy edits (as is my common practice at this stage) and then sending it out to beta readers. I'm on track to have the polished version completed by mid-February.
Writing: Standalone Fantasy Romance (Birds)
The nickname working title for this project is birds. I already have the cover and am actively writing this story. This one was on the back burner behind the back burner and then one day just came out of nowhere, smacked me on the face and screeched, "why haven't you written me yet!" So...The Night House deleted scenes, The Night House Descendants, and The Good Griffin Sequel are on hold while I get rid of these banshees in my head.
Plotting: YA/NA standalone fantasy (Thorns)
The cover is purchased and it's GORGEOUS. Working nickname title: Thorns. I'm feeling a younger vibe on this one, so for now I'm plotting it out as a YA or NA possibility.
Plotting: Standalone Epic Fantasy (Blood)
The cover is also purchased for this one and it is equally as gorgeous but more FIERCE than the other cover. This will be a fantasy intended for adult / mature readers.
Up Next: The Night House Deleted scenes
I actually cut a bunch of scenes in the middle and at the very end of the story. How many training scenes are needed for the reader to understand Taya was even more badass now? I felt these scenes caused too much drag and didn't propel the plot forward so I never fleshed them out. Most of the scenes got cut fairly early on in the development stage, but some readers are saying they want more, and I'm listening. My plan is to revisit these scenes, write them and then either publish them on my website, in my newsletter, reinsert them in the actual book, or a combination of all three options. For those who've already purchased The Night House, you will be able to "update" your original file or read the scenes on my website/newsletter. I would never want or expect you to buy a whole new version of the book just to read those scenes.
Up Next: The Night House Descendants Standalone
Wonder what happened after the end of The Night House? Me, too! I have an idea and I think it's going to be awesome!! Stay tuned.
Up Next: Mike Crawford Spinoff Series
Possibility: The Good Griffin Sequel
Backburner: Mystical Realism / Urban Fantasy (Tempest)
